Things can often look better from another angle, because the photographer positioned the camera at an angle that maximized the glare on the old unit. I hope it was just a happy coincident. I would hate to think he did it just to make the new one look better then it really is. Your photos will look better and more dynamic if you place the corner of the room in the center of your viewfinder, rather than shooting straight at the wall. Experiment with different angles to find one that looks best.
